The New Druids Series

Author Services

Editing to Perfection

For the first time, for my third novel, I have enlisted the help of a woman who delivers author services. Her name is C.L. Cannon and her website is here. She is also an author and her website is here. I found her through another author, Melissa E. Beckwith that I converse with every now and then. Her website is here. I recommend her fantasy books. They are available on Amazon here. She has two books in her series available.

Author services provide a means for authors to get their latest book out and noticed more. I will be providing her with Advanced Reader Copies (ARC) mid-August. This is my deadline for getting Stoc finalised. I am currently pouring through the second draft. This is a lot of work people!  The first draft is relatively easy. Moving toward final draft is where you decide which of your children get in the life raft. Not really as harsh as that but sometimes it is difficult to cut and slash. My dialogue tends to drift toward banter and I need to tighten that up. And confirm continuity and that I don’t break/change anything from the first two novels.

Stoc: Volume Three

The release date for Stoc remains August 31st, 2017.

I have the week off work to get myself situated. So wish me luck. And mourn for the parts I shred…lol.

Stoc: First Draft Completed

Stoc: Volume Three

Well, readers, I’m very pleased to announce that the first draft of Stoc, Volume Three of the New Druids series is now complete. I just wrapped it up and now begin the arduous process of cleaning it up and getting it to the final draft.

Like my other novels, I have finished them while relaxing at a cottage by a lake. This time in lovely Prince Edward Island. I am pleased with this latest novel and very happy with where the story is taking itself. I feel I am merely the conduit for a story that needs to be written. The characters speak for themselves and I merely dictate the words.

Stoc takes the journey down to a climactic confrontation and sets the stage for the next novel, Freamhaigh. The current story arc will complete and then I can pursue other ventures in Belkin.

I have hired a PR lady this time and I am very excited. I will be getting ARC copies out mid-August and will have Stoc up for sale end-August.

Back to my wine.

Quick Update

So I have stopped my review request campaign. Turns out that this is rather rude. It’s like telemarketing. Luckily, one of the first people I sent an email to is an author who has a rather acerbic wit. She led me to her website that deals with authors who would spam others. It had excellent advice and I am in the process of implementing the advice.

On a more positive note, I have now included a widget on my website. It’s on the right-hand side and it is a graphic from Pacemaker that shows how many words I have written in my novel Stoc. I need to write about 50,000 words to finish the novel. I finished Part One yesterday at around 48,000 words. That will bring the novel to around 100K words which is the right number of words for my novels, I think. 120K words is a little too much.

Anyway, now you can track my progress!

Ciao.

Valentine’s Day Special – Free Novel

valentine's day special

Did you know that Valentine’s Day is coming? It is. Before that, I want to apologise. It has been a while since my last post. Real life is simply getting in the way and I am trying to make a significant career change. None of that is important right now.

At the moment I want to let everyone know that in a sudden act of generosity I have decided to offer Leaf and Branch for FREE just in time for Valentine’s Day. The novel will be free from February 10-14th, inclusive. That’s a pretty sweet deal! It’s like me giving you $5 USD!

leaf and branch 3d coverWhy? Because books are wonderful things and fill me full of warm fuzzy goodness. And I’m a sucker for romance. I want everyone to have that feeling for a little while. So get a hold of Leaf and Branch while it’s free and send it to your significant other! I can’t promise they’ll love you more, but they sure will be appreciative!

Since I am here writing things I should update where I am with the world. For those that do not know, the story on me in the Royal Canadian Navy’s Crowsnest was picked up by Vanguard magazine; which is the oldest military magazine in Canada. I have also now been approached by Military Family Magazine for an Avid Reader article that I hope to see published soon. I’m pretty pleased with the sudden interest. I love to write and I love to have people read my novels. Hopefully, this helps get the word out.

Stoc is progressing albeit very slowly. I have a good friend providing excellent Alpha feedback. Not bad feedback for an American, actually. I’m going to have to keep this engineer physicist around… I still plan to publish this summer.

As always, please leave reviews on my novels.

Ciao!
